FAQ: Who & What We Are?

This site was created with the love of rats in mind!

It comes up again and again... people asking if there are rat breeders or rescues in their area. Often times people will have a difficult time finding breeders or rescues or are just unsure where to look. Other sites that have listings are often not kept up to date, breeders change sites or are no longer active.

Our goal is to create an up to date list of as many breeders and rescues as possible and to get more pet owners involved and in touch with them!

We want people to stop supporting rat mills and pet shops and instead get healthy/friendly well bred rats from legit breeders who are breeding to better the animals or turn to those rats in need and rescue those in need of homes.

FAQ:

How are breeders/rescues listed?

Any and all breeders/rescues are welcome to be listed. All breeders/rescues must ask to be listed by submitting a short form with their info. Then they will be listed by location for people to easily find them.

All breeders will get their info listed under their state listing and also get a post listing just for them.

All listings are 100% free to post.

What info do they need to supply?

The more info given the better chance at reaching those interested. Location is needed. But much of the other info is optional.
They are asked to give as many details they wish to share and may even post contact info, websites, facebook pages, etc....
You will get a whole post just for you so you can add as much information as you want! Including logos and pictures!

Rescues should share their location, if they have 501 status or not, website or contact info.

Do breeders/rescues need to be approved?

Every breeder/rescue out there is given the same open opportunity to be listed. It doesn't matter how much experience they have, what clubs they belong to, etc...

The idea is to encourage people to find breeders or rescues. We try to be as unbiased as possible. It is up to each person to research, ask questions and decide for themselves if the breeder/rescue is responsible.

We do not need one person's or one group's opinion on who is in and who is not "good". There is no in crowd, popularity contest or drama allowed.
We are simply listing their contact info. I would ask everyone to judge for themselves, talk to the breeder, ask around. If you have questions on what to ask or what to look for, you can find that on the site as well.

The ONLY time we will intervene or remove someone's listing is if actual abuse, neglect, or  cruelty is involved. If you suspect someone of this, please contact us directly with any proof!

Do we allow feeder breeders?

Yes...and no. We only allow listings from those who supply pets. The reason is just that we are a site for people looking for pets! But we do not discriminate against those who also sell feeders. You may mention in your ad that you sell feeders but your listing focus should be on pets.
So if you are a feeder breeder but also sell pet rats you MAY be listed.

Is it controversial? Possibly. We are rat lovers, we understand that feeding is difficult for some to think about. But remember our goal is to connect the community not separate.



Links, groups, shops, etc....

In hopes to connect more with the community, we also offer a section for all rat focused chat groups, area groups, websites & blogs that are rat focused, youtube, pinterest, instagram, etc...



We also have a section for rat supply shops. All links selling something must have an actual shop page such as etsy or facebook. Again all listings are 100% free. We can not recommend or support any links. Please shop smart and pay with something such as paypal so you have buyer protection. Read reviews if possible or ask around.

Rats only?

We will also allow breeders/rescues of mice equally.
You may also state in your info if you breed other animals if you wish.


Who runs the site?
